Edoboy in Orlando: My Go-To for High Quality Sushi Without the Omakase Wait
A lot of my recent reviews have been centered around sushi, but in my defense, when I go out to eat I gravitate towards things I cannot make at home. Sushi tops the list of something I frequently crave but also something I cannot do well at home. Hell, you cannot even get half the fish you find at a proper sushi restaurant in Orlando.
Edoboy is my go to sushi spot when I want high quality sushi but also do not want to sit down for a two hour meal at an omakase establishment. The main downside is that since there are only 8 seats and Edoboy is very popular, I have to book a week in advance whenever they drop reservations on Monday afternoons.
What Makes Edoboy Orlando Special

The sushi here is no frills and focuses on only nigiri and handrolls. You can order a maximum of 12 pieces, so if you’re starving, go for the handrolls for the volume alone.
I think the biggest strength of this place is how efficient the two chefs are. Since the time block is limited to 1 hour, the two chefs are just constantly pumping out pieces all night.
The Torched Nigiri Specialty

Their other biggest strength is their torched nigiri. Not many places offer it, and I expected it to be kind of a gimmick, but I like them and think the torching adds a little bit of complexity.
What I Ordered at Edoboy
Torched Shrimp
I would highly recommend the torched shrimp. It tastes like a mini lobster but with more tenderness and sweetness. This is the standout piece at Edoboy.
Dynamite Hand Roll
The dynamite handroll is also very good. It is a little sweet and rich from the Japanese mayo. Tastes more like Americanized sushi, but there is nothing wrong with that. If you want something indulgent and satisfying, this is it.
Ikura Nigiri

If there is one thing I would skip, it is the ikura nigiri. I find it extremely salty, like taking a sip from the ocean. Even as someone that loves ikura it was too much.
Matcha S’more Dessert (Also Skip)
I would also skip the matcha s’more at the end. The Mills 50 area has plenty of dessert cafes, and I think it is better to get something sweet at another place where you can talk in a more relaxed environment.
The Verdict: Is Edoboy Orlando Worth the Reservation Battle?
There are not many bad things I can say about Edoboy. It is a small intimate operation that is built on precision and consistency at a decent price point. If I am craving high quality sushi without committing to a full omakase experience, I will plan a week ahead to get a reservation slot. Apparently, most of Orlando agrees since getting a seat is so competitive.
The 1 hour time block keeps things efficient, and the focus on just nigiri and handrolls means they do what they do exceptionally well. The torched nigiri specialty sets them apart from other quick sushi spots in Orlando.
